In 2008, the Memphis Magic, led by Head Coach Eric D. "Cowboy" Robinson, have already won the Memphis Select Invitational, running the table and beating Team Thaddeus in the championship game. The Magic have also reached the final four in the Texas Spring Showcase, the elite eight in the Bob Gibbons Tournament of Champions, the sweet sixteen round in the Jayhawk Invitational, and the championship bracket in the Real Deal on the Hill.

The Magic have seen several former players advance on to the Division I college ranks, including perennial powerhouses Duke and Memphis. Alum Shawne Williams has played in more than 110 games over two NBA seasons with the Indiana Pacers.
