GBOA’s 3-Point Shootouts took place in all four regional tournaments, with the top sharp shooters from each region will take the court to dispdisplaying their impeccable aim and touch.  GBOA tournaments feature the best of the best, and this year’s shooters were no exception. Their pinpoint accuracy rivals the best in the game, so don’t be surprised if you see them on the NBA hardwood soon!

The competition will follow traditional 3-point contest rules, with players having one minute to shoot five balls from each of five spots around the arc, accumulating one points for each shot made, and 2 points for the 5th "Money Ball" from each spot.  The shootout was done GBOA style, with each shooter selecting a teammate to rebound and pass to the shooter. 

Last year’s champion Brady Heslip of Grassroots Canada (see video below) was back in GBOA East, but lost his title to newcomer Brian Oliver of the NJ Playaz.  All of the talent was impressive, but the South just blew us away with record setting performances by both winner Coleson Rakestraw of the Arkansas Hawks (21 points) and runner-up Jelani Hewitt of Team Breakdown (20 points).

GBOA South - Coleson Rakestraw, Arkansas Hawks

We'll see some of these guys back at the Challenge of Champions, so we'll see if they can outdo themselves here in Chicago.
